The Meaning Behind a Quilt of Valor

The Quilts of Valor Foundation honors Service Members and Veterans who have been touched by war by covering them with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor®. Each quilt is lovingly handmade and awarded as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the recipient’s service, sacrifice, and valor.

The presentation of a Quilt of Valor® is a meaningful moment of recognition. During the ceremony, the recipient’s military service is honored, the significance of the quilt is shared, and the quilt is wrapped around them as a tangible expression of comfort, appreciation, and respect.

These presentations are often shared with family members, friends, fellow Veterans, community members, and those who helped create or present the quilt. Together, they create a special opportunity to recognize not only the uniform that was worn, but the individual who served, sacrificed, and answered our nation’s call.

For each recipient, a Quilt of Valor® is more than a handmade quilt. It is a lasting reminder that their service is remembered, their sacrifices are honored, and their community is grateful.

Our Quilts of Valor Honorees

We would like to pay tribute to the veterans in our community who have given so much in service to our country. Each recipient has a story filled with moments of courage, sacrifice, perseverance, and love for family, community, and country. By sharing their Quilts of Valor presentations, we hope to do more than simply recognize their service—we hope to celebrate the people behind the uniform, the lives they have touched, and the memories and experiences that have shaped who they are.
